Waste management, environmental services, logistics… Through our activities we help to tackle the world’s environmental challenges, so sustainable development is something that is central to our work. But above and beyond that, it represents a key part of our strategy and truly cements our values: respect, innovation, dialogue, loyalty, etc.

Sustainable development: a leader’s commitment

Veolia Environmental Services’ global activities and missions thrust us to the forefront of the world stage, and as a key player in the industrial ecology field we are actively involved in promoting sustainable development. In practice, Veolia’s responsibilities are three-fold:

• Economic: anticipate market changes, design innovative solutions, control risks
• Environmental: preserve quality of life, minimize the environmental impact of our own activities
• Social: improve local populations’ living conditions, train our employees, strive to improve health and safety, etc.

Innovation, dialogue and responsibility

These responsibilities echo the commitment Veolia made when it chose to get involved in the Global Compact, an initiative that unites the United Nations, companies and the non-profit world around 10 universal principles. But above all, they impose a set of ethical principles that are laid down in Veolia Environmental Services’ Charter of Values and Environmental Policy:

• Show respect for the environment, for law and for our clients, employees and partners
• Support research, innovation and training
• Encourage dialogue and consultation with our partners
• Make a concerted effort to promote hygiene, health and safety.

Respect for all - everyone’s ethic

Innovation, performance and commitment shape the rules of conduct laid down in Veolia’s Ethics, Conviction and Responsibility programme. This programme calls upon group employees to show profound respect for legality, loyalty, social responsibility, risk control and commitment in order to foster sustainable development.
